Enabling and Disabling Auto Reload in UseTransit

Updated December 2025
Quick answer

Open a card's Auto Reload settings, pick the fare product and a threshold, and save. UseTransit then tops the card up from your saved payment method when it drops below that threshold. Disable it from the same screen.

Auto Reload keeps enough funds on your account for your trips. When your balance drops below a threshold you set, it adds funds automatically using your saved payment method.

Enable Auto Reload

Select the card and click Auto Reload. Scroll to Set Auto Reload for Rides, Set Auto Reload for E-Purse, or the passes section for a fare pass. Choose the fare product to purchase automatically, enter the Threshold, choose the payment method, and click Save.

  • For balance- or ride-based accounts, the threshold is the balance or number of rides that triggers a reload.
  • For a fare pass, the threshold is the number of days before the pass expires when the reload happens.

Disable Auto Reload

Select the card, click Auto Reload, then click DISABLE AUTO-RELOAD FOR PASS(ES)/RIDES.
